Matrix Fitness, the world’s fastest-growing commercial fitness brand, announced the technical integration of Matrix-branded equipment with Sony Europe BV’s Advagym digital platform (hereinafter “Sony”) to deliver a complete connected experience. The new connectivity between the Advagym digital platform and Matrix’s connected touchscreen cardio equipment enables a seamless, touchless experience. The cloud-based integration went live on December 15, 2021, allowing Advagym users to receive workout data from their connected Matrix equipment via the Advagym app.
“At Matrix, our approach to technology is centered on meeting our customers where they are. Ensuring our products seamlessly connect with a customer’s existing technology ecosystem continues to play a critical role in the relationships we build with our customers,” says Matt McConley, Digital Product Manager at Johnson Health Tech. “By integrating Matrix equipment with Advagym, commercial facilities can offer the same cohesive, frictionless experiences for members in Matrix cardio as they do with their other Advagym-equipped machines or areas.”

The Advagym platform collects exercise and machine usage data from connected Matrix cardio equipment to complement its cloud-based offering. Advagym's solution uses wireless discs, beacons, and machine sensors to enable Advagym users to seamlessly track workouts, save favorite training settings, view statistics, and access workout history through the Advagym app. In gyms with Advagym-connected training machines, its digital platform allows trainers to create personalized programs, monitor progress, and connect with members, while operators have access to real-time usage data to make strategic decisions regarding service maintenance, staffing, and investments in their business.
“With the changing landscape of the fitness industry, commercial facilities must find new ways to engage with their members and offer them value-added services. Club owners and operators need a connected solution to retain memberships and improve their business,” said Henrik Bengtsson, Business Director for Advagym at Sony. “Advagym can offer them exactly this while also supporting members on their individual fitness journeys. The technical integration of our platform into Matrix cardio machines allows us to reach a larger market and deliver a connected experience that benefits both operators and their members.”
Sony's Advagym is offered worldwide and is currently available in Swedish, Danish, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Spanish, German, and Czech, with plans to add more languages in the future. Advagym is compatible with Matrix touchscreen cardio consoles, including the Touch XL, Touch, and some 7-series consoles.
